Jan Lundgren: recording session & release concert with legendary Bengt Hallberg

September 2, 2011

Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren has once again entered the recording studio, this time together with Swedish jazz piano legend Bengt Hallberg (aged 79), for a double piano session. The result is a new CD, Back to Back, VOLENZA VMCD 105. The release is going to coincide with an exclusive concert at  Stockholm Concert Hall on september 9.

It will be a unique situation with a two generation gap and still improvising in the same language. Bengt Hallberg is back after a nine year pause. Seven tracks are their own compositions, three by Bengt Hallberg, two by Jan Lundgren and two by them together. Among the others you´ll find Sweet Georgia Brown, Maple Leaf Rag and Polka du Roi (Charles Trénet).

The concert is advertised under the same title, Back to Back, since the two are seated back to back on the stage.
